Attendance
Every week in our Celebration Assembly, we celebrate the class who has achieved the highest attendance for that week. This week Mrs Parkes' and Miss Dunn's classes had the highest attendance, both with 100% - well done Year 4 & Year 6! What a great start to the new school year.
Please see below for the attendance figures for this week. The target attendance for all children is currently set at 97%.
Nursery - Due to staggered start dates, Nursery attendance will start showing here from week commencing 15th September

Celebrating fantastic attendance!
Each week, each class with 100% attendance on a particular day will receive one letter from the word MAYFLOWER to put on their classroom door. Once a class has spelt out the word MAYFLOWER, a member of the class will bring all their letters down to the office to claim their prize from our box of Awesome Attendance Activities!
Although all the children in Nursery and Reception haven't started yet, those classes have received their letters if all children who were meant to be in school this week were in.

Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.
Nursery & Reception
Individual stars of the week haven't been chosen for Nursery and Reception this week, as all the children aren't in yet with staggered start dates. However, we would like to say a huge 'Well Done' to all the children in Nursery and Reception, including our new children, who have all had a fantastic first week back. Everyone is settling in wonderfully and all the children are already making friends with their new classmates.
Year 1
This week, everyone has tried incredibly hard to get to grips with new routines, new faces and a new learning environment. All of the children have successfully managed moving from Foundation Stage to Year 1, something that can feel somewhat daunting, and they have embraced their fresh start.
Our Stars of the week go to two children who were more than a little anxious to make the move. They have both proven themselves to be fantastic members of the class, taking onboard all the responsibilities of Year 1. Well done Sylvi and Isaac! What a fantastic start!
Year 2
Daniel has had an amazing start to life at Bawtry Mayflower. He has quickly become a role model for others, showing kindness, and respect in everything he does. He is a wonderful addition to our class and truly embodies 'The Mayflower Way' . We can't wait to see all the amazing things he will accomplish this year. Welcome to Bawtry Mayflower Daniel, we're so glad you're here!
Skyla has had an incredible start to Year 2. She has returned to school with a huge smile, a heart full of positivity and a love of learning. She's formed wonderful new friendships and continues to brighten their day with laughter and kindness. We can't wait to see what Skyla will achieve this year. Keep shining!
Year 3
Freddie has made a fantastic start to Year 3 at Bawtry Mayflower. He already understands what the 'Mayflower Way' is and shows this in all of his actions and choices. It is already difficult to remember that this is his first week at our school. A fabulous start!
Avaley has made a fantastic start to Year 3 at Bawtry Mayflower. She already understands what the 'Mayflower Way' is and shows this in all of her actions and choices. It is already difficult to remember that this is her first week at our school. A fabulous start!
Year 4
Year 4 have ALL been amazing this week! They have come to school every day ready to learn, open to facing the challenges of a new year group and most importantly, they have done everything the Mayflower Way.
My stars of the week go to:
Isaac - Isaac has really impressed me this week. He has completed all of his work with high levels of enthusiasm, positivity and determination. He always has a smile on his face! He offers help and support to others and remains kind and respectful to peers and adults at all times. A fantastic start to Year 4 - keep it up.
Libby - Libby has amazed me this week with how she has taken the first week of Year 4 in her stride. She has challenged herself to be the best version of herself and to push herself out of her comfort zone in order to achieve to the best of her ability. She is kind and respectful and should be extremely proud of herself. Keep it up.
Year 5
"The first day of school is the first step in a great adventure."
Fletcher - Fletcher has made a great start to the new school year. He is focussing on himself and is showing appropriate and acceptable behaviour in different situations. Well done Fletcher! Keep it up!
Kiera - Kiera has made a great start to the new school year. She perseveres with new learning and faces challenges with a positive attitude. Well done Kiera! Keep it up!
Year 6
The focus this week across school has been on a fresh start for the new school year. Adults across school have been looking out for those children who have had a bright start in their new classes.
I have to say that Year 6 have made this virtually impossible for me to choose: we have had a fantastic first week back and I have loved spending this week with them. Every single Year 6 has impressed me with their fantastic attitude and approach to learning and I am incredibly proud of all of them; however, I have had to choose two and this week's Y6 Stars of the Week are as follows:
Seth - Seth has been a fantastic ambassador this week, encompassing everything that Year 6 represents and acting as an exemplary role model in class and across school. He has been fully engaged in all learning, has been one of the first ones ready to learn in every session across the week and has shown such a collaborative approach towards working with others. If this is week 1 in Year 6, Seth, I cannot wait for the rest of the year!
Elizabeth - Elizabeth has shone this week in Year 6. She has embodied everything that represents Year 6, setting an excellent example for others to follow. Elizabeth has walked into class every day with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes that has just made me smile too. She has shown enthusiasm for what lies ahead this year and I know she will tackle challenges and opportunities head on. What a fantastic start to Year 6, Elizabeth!
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.
On our return, our theme this week was ‘Make a fresh start; make the difference’ and this amazing superstar has made a great start to the year in Year 6 by showing lots of positivity and resilience. She has welcomed, and taken under her wing, some of our KS2 new starters and looked after them on the playground. Well done Sophia A, you have the wonderful ability of making a positive difference to everyone’s day – thank you!
Makaton Sign Of The Week
The children are continuing to learn Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish.
