Stars of the week

Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.

Nursery & Reception

Uzayr has been chosen as star of the week in Nursery this week as he has been trying really hard to set a good example to the other children. He has been doing some fantastic listening and focusing in his group work. He has also been super helpful to the adults and his friends. We are really proud of you!

Oliver has also been chosen as star of the week this week in Nursery because he has been trying really hard to make some great choices in his choosing time. He has loved talking to us about Africa when we have been learning about Handa's Surprise. He has also focused really well on creating some fantastic art work. Well done Oliver!

This week in Reception these 2 children have tried their upmost to make good choices and show the adults and their friends how amazing they truly are. They have demonstrated sensible choices not only in their independent choosing time but also with any adult led activity. They have done some amazing writing, art work and team activities that they have shone through in. Keep up the hard work Oliver and Dahlia, we are all very proud of you.

Year 1

Darcy - Darcy has had a wonderful week in school. She has been so kind to others and has been spotted many times helping children with their learning or asking to do jobs. Darcy has been working hard too, particularly in maths. In every lesson, she is showing that she is ready to learn by sitting nicely and listening carefully. She is definitely getting Year 2 ready! Well done.

Cole - Cole has had a great week in school. He has been working very hard in our lessons and has really impressed us in RE with how much he has remembered about places of worship! Cole has showed a real desire to learn, as he not only completes his work, but during choosing time he has been doing extra writing and maths too! He is trying super hard to be responsible and concentrate on being a good learner. Keep up the hard work, Cole!

Year 2

This week, we have been thinking about how we can be responsible for ourselves, our environment and others.

Seb has increasingly demonstrated that he can take responsibility for his own learning and his own actions. We are really proud of him.  This week in particular, he has shown that he is also able to take responsibility for caring for others too. He has looked out for younger children, ensuring they are safe and happy. Well done, Seb!

Emilia is a role model for taking responsibility within the class. She has taken responsibility for improving her own learning, making progress in leaps and bounds. She is always one of the first to be organised and ready for each learning activity and is eager to ensure that the classroom is tidy afterwards. Keep up the great attitude, Emilia!

Year 3

Florence - Florence has shown this week how responsible she is by looking after her equipment and ensuring she has everything she needs for her learning. She is extremely kind to other children and regularly checks in on them to make sure they are ok and helps others to take responsibility for their equipment too. Thank you, Florence!

Logan - Logan takes responsibility for his own learning every day. He knows when he needs equipment and is very well organised and he is always happy to take responsibility for the equipment of others, making sure his table is tidy and organised. He has shown a real independence of thought and action this week which is fabulous to see. Well done, Logan!

Year 4

This week, at Hollowford, Year 4 have shown resilience in abundance. They have developed their independence and have shown courage, determination and kindness in all that they have done. All the staff are incredibly proud of what they have achieved.

Year 5

“The price of greatness is responsibility.” -Winston Churchill

Darcy and Elizabeth demonstrate how to be responsible on a daily basis; they look out for the well being of others, take accountability for their actions and always make good choices. They understand that we all have a part to play in making the world a better place. Well done to both of you!!

Year 6

This week in school, our focus has been on one of our learning powers: Be Responsible. The adults across school have been looking for those children who show responsibility by looking out for others in particular. This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind:

Caydon - Caydon has had a fantastic couple of weeks in Year 6; he has shown that he can take responsibility for his own learning and has focussed and worked so hard on his self-portrait this week. He recognises the link between choices and consequences and has really proven himself to be a responsible, respectful and hard-working member of the class. You have really made me smile this week Caydon - keep it up!

Gracie-Mae - Gracie-Mae is a responsible member of the class who takes ownership of her own learning. She is always responsible for resources and equipment, often offering to hand things out, collect things in and tidy up after herself and others. She is kind and helpful and will just do things that she sees need doing, even without being asked. You are a huge help to me in class Gracie and I appreciate all that you do.

Headteacher Award

Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.

My superstar award for this week goes to Oscar F in Year 4. This week he has shown unreserved determination to do his very best in absolutely everything. He has shown courage and resilience on our residential and all done in kindness. Progress in what he can do, will do and try to do has been amazing. I am so proud. Well done Oscar, you have shone this week and you are so deserving of this award.

Makaton Sign Of The Week

The children are continuing to learn Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign for the coming week.

The concert will start at 9am.

Our children who have been taking part in the Rocksteady music sessions will also be performing a concert for their families next Wednesday, 2nd July. This will start at 10am.

If you will be joining us, please ensure you arrive at the school office in plenty of time for the start of the concerts.

Transition for September 2025

As part of our transition ready for September, next Wednesday, 2nd July parents/carers will have the opportunity to come into school between 3.10pm and 3.30pm to look at their child's work in their current class. Then from 3.30pm to 4pm that day, parents/carers will be able to meet their child's new teacher.

Further information regarding this will be sent out at the beginning of next week, along with information about our whole school move up day on Tuesday 8th July where the children will spend the full day with their new teachers.

Art Gallery and Art Creation Stations 3rd & 4th July

Next Wednesday, 2nd July and next Thursday, 3rd July our Art Gallery will be open from 8.30am to 9am and 3.10pm to 4pm in our lower hall. The gallery will showcase the artwork that the children have been creating recently, producing portraits inspired by the works of different artists. From what we have seen so far, you are in for a real treat!

In addition to the art gallery, next Thursday 3rd July from 3.10pm to 4pm our 'Art Creation Stations' will be in our lower building, providing an opportunity for children, accompanied by their parents/carers, to take part in some art activities. Refreshments will be available.

For all our art-related activities, please come to the school office to be directed to where these are taking place. We hope as many of you as possible can join us.

Big Talk Education in school Friday 11th July

Big Talk will be coming into school on Friday 11th July. They will be delivering Relationship Education throughout school (Nursery to Year 6) through their Growing up Safe programme. You should have received a letter and email this week providing more information about the Big Talk team and what will be discussed in the sessions.

Colour Run Thursday 17th July 1.15pm

Letters came home with the children last week for our PTA's Colour Run which will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 17th July. For those not familiar with a colour run, it is a fun event where everyone starts wearing a white t-shirt. They follow the course round and at various points everyone is doused with different coloured powder paints. At the end of the event, everyone will be covered in a rainbow of paint! Last year’s event was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part, so we are hoping that as many families as possible will be able to join us on 17th July.

The deadline for the reply slip and payment to be returned is next Friday 4th July. Please ensure that if your child would like to take part, that their reply slip and payment is returned by this deadline, as we cannot accept any late reply slips.

Uniform orders for September

We are now accepting orders for uniform for September. If you would like to order any uniform ready for September, please log on to ParentPay to order your items before Friday 11th July.

The uniform will then be available to collect from the school office on Friday 29th August between 8am and 3pm.

We cannot guarantee that any orders received after Friday 11th July will be available for collection before the children start back in September, so it is really important that you order on time.

If you order any uniform and the item is for your child to have this term rather than for September, please email admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk to let us know.

Congratulations!

Olivia and Lilly from Year 4, along with Lilly's sister Gracie from Year 6, competed in the Welsh International Takewondo Open in Cardiff last weekend. All 3 girls secured bronze medals at the event, which is phenomenal!

All three girls should be so proud of their performances - to take part is amazing in itself, but to come away from such a major tournament with medals is outstanding! Congratulations girls - all your hard work is definitely paying off.

Scorpion Taekwondo, where the girls train, also won 1st place in the team trophy overall for the second year running.

Olivia, Lilly and Gracie are competing this weekend at the Doncaster Dome. We can't wait to hear how they have got on next week. Good luck!
