Stars of the week

Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.

Nursery & Reception

Alma and Alfie have been chosen as stars of the week this week in Nursery for being absolute superstars at tidying up and being respectful of our classroom and resources. They have been excellent role models for the others and have earned lots of stickers for the great work!

Our first star in Reception this week has really impressed us with the way they use kind words. He is always polite, thoughtful, and caring, making sure everyone feels included and valued. He makes sure to always listen carefully and is always ready to learn. We are so proud of the way he helps make our class such a caring place, well done Alfie! 🙂

Our second star for Reception has shown such kindness and care in the way they speak to others. Always making sure others have someone to play with. They always choose gentle, thoughtful words that make their friends feel happy and cared for. They remind us how important it is to be respectful to each other and to our classroom, making sure that all of our equipment is put away safely. What a wonderful role model, Ada. 🙂

Year 1

This week is Recycling Week so we have been thinking about people who show care for each other, for the world, for our school, for the community and in the words they choose.

Ada and Milo show care for their classmates by helping them with their learning and offering to play with them. They always put the recycling into the correct bins. They understand the need to look after the plants and animals on our planet. They keep the classroom tidy and safe by tidying equipment away and tucking chairs under. And most importantly, they always offer kind words and beautiful smiles of encouragement to everyone. Thank you for being so kind and caring, Ada and Milo.

Year 2

Cole has shown a wonderfully caring side this week. He has looked after our school by tidying away toys and resources during break and lunchtime, often without being asked. He is kind to others and always ready to help a friend, whether it’s finding their work or giving them a hand when they’re stuck. Cole’s happiness and energy brighten people’s days and give them a boost when they need it. Thank you for showing such care, Cole.

David has a thoughtful and caring attitude that makes a big difference in our class. He always shows kindness to everyone, offering help to both children and adults whenever it’s needed. He supports his friends with their work, comforts others when they’re upset, and is always there with a gentle word or a helping hand. David’s care for others is lovely to see. Thank you for being so caring, David.

Year 3

Connor - Connor is a very kind and caring member of year 3. He is always respectful towards other people and the classroom environment. He checks in on other children and adults to make sure they are OK and Connor has kind words for everyone. He demonstrates every day in his words and actions how caring he is! Thank you, Connor!

Max - Max is a very kind and caring member of year 3. He is always respectful towards other people and the classroom environment. He checks in on other children and adults to make sure they are OK and he has kind  words for everyone. Max is amazing at finding the positives in any situation and this brightens everyones day! Thank you, Max!

Year 4

Ella - Ella shows care and compassion for her peers, adults and our wider school community. She always engages in projects and tasks given, showing her desire to spread joy to everyone and everything. Other members of the class ask if they can sit next to Ella as they know how supportive and caring she is, often giving up her own time to help others. Ella - you are a pleasure to teach and such a fantastic example of doing it the Mayflower way.

Isabella - I have been really impressed with Isabella this week. She has shown kindness and care towards others at all times, offering help and support to her peers. Isabella takes care when completing her work and this is evident in all that she does. She is determined to achieve to the best of her ability and is a valued member of our class. Keep it up.

Year 5

“Sometimes it takes only one act of kindness and caring to change a person’s life.” Jackie Chan

Ellie-May demonstrates kindness to everyone all of the time and as a result of this, she is a valued member of Year 5. She always treats others the way she would like to be treated. This week, she has shown care and concern for those around her and has supported them to help them to feel better. Keep being you!

Dylan is a valued member of Year 5 who demonstrates kindness and care to everyone at all times. He shows this through his words and actions each and every day. Dylan also cares about his learning; he shows this by always putting in 100% effort and acting upon all feedback given. Keep up the hard work!

Year 6

The focus across school this week, has been on those children who show care - for each other, for the world, for our school community and wider community. This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind.

Oliver B - Oliver shows care through his actions and words every day. He cares about others, showing this by supporting them with kindness, compassion and patience whilst helping them with their work. He cares about his own learning and shows this by always putting in 100% effort and acting upon all feedback given so that he can make it even better. He cares about our school community, looking after and taking care of the resources and people within it. Thank you for being you, Oliver.

Ariana - Ariana shows care through her actions and words every day. She cares about all members of our school community, going above and beyond to make resources to support mental health and to promote positivity in our classroom. She cares about her learning and the learning of others, putting in 100% effort in every lesson and supporting others with kindness, patience and understanding. Thank you for the care that you show and the difference you make to our Year 6 family, Ariana.

Headteacher Award

Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.

This week’s Superstar Award goes to a pupil who shows care in a variety of ways. Care for each other, for the world, for our school and for our community. Luke does this every single day putting others before him and understanding the importance of consideration to others. Well done Luke on achieving this award this week.

Makaton Sign Of The Week

The children are continuing to learn Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Returning children to the school office after appointments

There may be occasions where Mrs Walker and Miss Argo are busy out of the office, so could not be there to let your child in. For the safety of all children, we would appreciate this going forward.
