Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.
Nursery & Reception
Ronnie has been chosen as star of the week for Nursery this week. Ronnie has really been using lots of language and description to explain all about castles. Miss Limb was really impressed with how he talked about and described a moat around a castle.
Our first star of the week for Reception this week always shows us how responsible and respectful she is of our school rules. She is fantastic at tidying up and making sure everything goes back into it's home often offering to help others during tidy up time. It's wonderful to see you being such a super helper and setting a great example for your friends! Well done Junie 🙂
Our second star of the week for Reception has shown such fantastic responsibility over the last few weeks really trying her best to make the right choices in the classroom. She is trying her best to do super listening and making sure that she follows instructions carefully. This week she has been fantastic at sharing, taking turns and practicing using a quieter voice. Well done Jaycee 🙂
Year 1
This week we have been thinking about responsibilities and following rules and laws. Lots of children at our school follow the school rules, even when it is hard. Two children in our class have been trying their best to listen carefully to instructions, they always follow our Be Kind school rule, and they have shown many examples all week of our Be Respectful and our Work Hard school rules. From wonderful arithmetic to great participation in PE, Georgia and Luke have impressed us all. Keep up the hard work!
Year 2
This week we have been thinking about understanding and supporting each other.
Esme and Connor are two children who go out of their way to understand why other people behave the way they do. They understand that it may be because they think differently or because they are feeling strong emotions at that moment in time. They both have the ability to empathise with other people and give them the support they need; be it a cuddle, a kind word or sometimes even just space to calm and breathe. They are both wonderful friends and wonderful children to have in the class. Thank you for all you do to support everyone!
Year 3
Thomas - Thomas has impressed us all this week with his hard working attitude and the way he has helped and supported us all in class. He notices when other people need help, support or a kind word and he is an excellent friend. The polite, kind and caring manner in which he pointed out a 'deliberate mistake' in maths this week demonstrated how thoughtful he is. Thank you Thomas!
Martha - Martha has been an absolute superstar this week! She has worked hard and has noticed when people needed help. She is the first to offer to help with class jobs and has done this to help all of us. Martha will help anyone if it makes them feel better and she tries her best to be a really good friend! Thank you Martha!
Year 4
Thomas - Thomas has had an excellent week this week. He has shown high levels of determination and resilience in all lessons. Thomas has worked collaboratively with his partner to share ideas and listen to the ideas of others. Thomas is very empathetic and is able to communicate how he is feeling as well as being aware of the feelings of others.
Jenson - Jenson is a responsible and determined learner. He consistently shows he is ready to learn and is keen to take on new learning. He works well with all children and can collaborate effectively in all subjects. Jenson has really impressed me with his work ethic. Keep it up.
Year 5
“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But, people will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou
Tamara is always kind and sensitive and knows that some people may think differently to herself. She has the ability to empathise with other people and give them the support they need; she is a friend to all. Keep being wonderful!
Savana is kind and caring and sensitive to the feelings of others. She shows concern for others and when she sees someone upset she will try to comfort them by offering a hug or words of encouragement. You are a such a good friend Savana. Keep being you!!
Year 6
The focus across school for the final week of this half term has been on empathy. Adults have been looking out, in particular, for those children who show empathy to others through their actions and words. This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind:
Gracie-Leigh - Gracie is a highly empathetic member of our class who always considers the feelings of others; she advocates for her friends when she thinks that they might not be able to do this for themselves and will talk to adults on their behalf. Gracie shares her strategies with others when she thinks that this might benefit them and she is always there with kind and compassionate words of reassurance and support. Your considerate and empathetic nature is really valued in Year 6, Gracie.
Bella - Bella is a highly empathetic member of our class who shows a great deal of emotional maturity - when it comes to herself and to others. She is a loyal and supportive friend who will do all she can for the people that she cares about. Bella is compassionate and supportive and always tries to see things from others' perspectives in order to offer advice and guidance, where necessary. Your caring and empathetic nature is really appreciated in Year 6, Bella.
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.
My award this week goes to Junie (Reception) for her super attitude towards all that she does in school. She always gives 100% effort and does this with humility and respect to others at all times. Not only is she a superstar worker, she also promotes positive play at break times and is always a friendly face to all who need someone to play with too! Well done Junie, the playground is always a happier place with you on it!!
Makaton Sign Of The Week
The children are continuing to learn Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign for the coming week.

Upcoming training days
As advised in our diary dates and on the school website calendar, following the May half term holiday school will remain closed on Monday 2nd June and Tuesday 3rd June as these are our final two training days for the current school year.
Training Days for the 2025-2026 school year
All 5 training days for the next school year have now been set. The dates are as follows:
Monday 1st September 2025
Friday 19th December 2025
Monday 5th January 2026
Monday 1st June 2026
Monday 20th July 2026
These dates are showing in the diary dates below, as well as on the school website calendar.
Bikes/Scooters
Could we please remind all children and adults that riding bikes/scooters etc on school grounds is strictly forbidden. This is to ensure the safety of everyone, so we would appreciate it if this rule was followed.
Reminder about parking
Following on from our message on last week's blog regarding parking, we have this week had a complaint from a local resident. The resident had difficulty getting out of their drive to go to an appointment, as cars were not parked in a thoughtful manner.
We know that parking around school is not easy, but we would ask that parents/carers are safe when parking, but also respectful and courteous to our neighbours too.
Lost property/spare uniform
All the lost property that was not labelled with children's names was put out on the lower playground benches on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. There was a mountain left at the end, so this has been distributed between the Bag2School clothing collection and local charity clothing bins.
Could we please ask that ALL uniform (including PE kits) is clearly labelled with your child's name please. This will help us to return any items laying around to their owner.
We don't currently need any spare items of general uniform, as we have plenty to keep us going with donations that have come in recently. The only items we would like to continue receiving are the jumpers/cardigans with the school logo on, as our PTA sell these in their second hand shop online to raise additional funds for school.
Bag2School clothing collection Friday 6th June
Our PTA's next Bag2School clothing collection will be on Friday 6th June. The bags for this were sent home with the children this week.
Please click on the link below to check what Bag2School accept in their clothing collections.
https://bag2school.com/what-we-collect
Please bring your filled bags to school on Friday 6th June and leave them in front of the building outside our Foundation classroom, on the patch of grass opposite the shed. There will already be some bags in that area by the time parents/carers start arriving, so it will be obvious where they need to be left.
Bag2School usually arrive at the start of the school day so please place your filled bags in the collection area before school starts.
Bag2School will weigh the bags and our PTA will receive payment dependent on the total weight of all the bags. We will share how much was raised on an upcoming blog.
