Attendance Monitoring
Whole school and individual attendance for the Spring Term has been reviewed by the team this week and letters will be sent out next week to families where attendance has improved, but also to those families where attendance has dropped below 97% which means we have concerns about lost learning time at school. Letters will be sent home with the children in a sealed envelope addressed to parents/carers and an email will be sent the day before to let you know that a letter will be brought home.
I just wanted to remind you that as a school we do not set the guidance around this. Letters that are sent and the procedures that we have to follow are part of the Local Authority guidance we follow as a maintained school. If you do receive a letter raising concerns about attendance, this is looked at on an individual case-by-case basis and we do look carefully at the reasons for this absence, some of which cannot be avoided. We do understand this.
If you receive a letter asking for a meeting, this is a reminder that this is an opportunity to see if, as a school, any support or help can be given to improve your child/children’s attendance.
Recently, the office in particular has faced what would be described as disgruntled conversations around these actions. Please be reminded also that they are following what the Local Authority is being asked to do in regards to improving attendance for all children across Doncaster.
Thank you for your support.

Message for Year 6
Dear Year 6 and families,
We have reached the end of SATs week for KS2 and I wanted to personally thank you all for giving your absolute best throughout this week. During the whole week, you have worked so hard and even when at points it was tough you remembered to ‘focus’ and use all the strategies and skills you have been taught which was amazing to see!
SATs certainly aren’t a measure of the person that you are. They don’t measure your musical or sporting talent, they don’t measure your artistic ability or even the kindness in your heart so whatever the outcome of this week, remember you gave it 100% and all the staff at BMPS are so very proud of you all. Well done Year 6!
Mrs Powell
Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.
Foundation
Mia for riding her bike independently using her pedals. She was very confident and her bike teacher was very impressed with her. The best thing was the smile on her face!
Evie D - In Nursery we have recently started learning initial sounds in our Read, Write, Inc, lessons. Evie has been trying really hard to learn her sounds and in her child led learning time she has been enjoying practising writing her sounds. She is very proud of her work and loves to show the adults what she has been doing.
Kiki - Kiki has been showing a positive attitude towards his learning. He is loving learning initial sounds in Read, Write, Inc. and enjoys sharing what he knows with others.
1/2A Mrs Davies
Libby - for being absolutely amazing in Maths this week. She is the Statistic Queen! Libby is proving herself to be courageous, determined and responsible in all aspects of her learning and school life.
Evie - for embodying our school values. She is courageous in the way she tackles things she is unsure of; collaborative in the way she supports others in their learning; determined to apply her learning; and takes responsibility for getting better every day!
1/2B Miss Cruickshanks
Lilly - for her resilience, determination, and hard work! You have been a superstar this week! Well done you!
Oscar S - for being focussed and driven to complete your work to the best of your ability! You're trying so hard, and it never goes unnoticed!
1/2C Mrs Birkinshaw/Mrs Taylor
Maddison E - Over the past week, Maddison has shown a great amount of resilience and determination. This has allowed her to complete her work to a high standard. She has grown in confidence and as such, she has been able to take part in group and class discussions being confident in the answers that she is giving. Well done Maddison!
Maggie - Maggie has been trying really hard over the past week with all of her learning. She has shown great resilience and determination, especially within the extra tutoring sessions. This has allowed her confidence to grow and she is now much more willing to 'have a go'. Well done Maggie - we are all really proud!
3/4A Mrs Wood
Alicia - Alicia has brought a huge smile and a positive attitude into class every day this week! She has worked incredibly hard in every lesson this week and has shown a real determination to complete her work to a high standard. Excellent!
Esme - Esme has worked hard this week and has been determined to push herself with her learning, choosing more difficult levels of challenge. This has been fantastic to see as she was successful and met the high standards she set herself! Well done Esme!
3/4B Mrs Perry
Cohen - For working hard. He took part in the Hockey festival on Tuesday. He showed great determination and effort during all the games. He cheered on his team mates and showed fantastic sportsmanship by shaking hands with the other teams. He attempted some great shots and even deflected some shots by other teams. Amazing effort, well done Cohen.
Sophia N - For working hard and being respectful. She is showing excellent learning behaviours and putting amazing effort into all her learning. She is focused on her tasks and helps others on her table to understand and complete their learning. Keep it up.
5/6A Miss Dunn & 5/6B Mrs Pickersgill/Mrs Walker
It was impossible to choose just two Stars of the Week from Year 6 this week as each and every one of them have made all staff in school immeasurably proud. Their resilience, determination and the attitude that they have shown towards SATs this week has been commendable and this is what will ensure that they will be successful life-long learners moving forwards. Year 6, you are all superstars and we hope you have a lovely, relaxing weekend as a reward for all of your hard work. We could not be any prouder of you.

Hockey Festival
This week, some of our Year 3/4 children took part in an inter-school Quick Sticks hockey festival at Doncaster Hockey Club. Our children are really relishing the opportunity to develop their skills by competing in these events and we hope to do more of these in the future. The children were a credit to our school and their parents/carers as always and came third in the festival. Well done to all those who took part.
